Eight anti-Trump protesters outside the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo., where President Trump’s rally was being held, were arrested. Around 200 protesters had gathered at the site, and some were blocking traffic nearby just as President Trump took the stage.

The Colorado Springs Police Department said in a statement to KKTV that during the rally, a “large group of people exercised their First Amendment Constitutional Right to peacefully protest. There was a designated free speech zone where people could express their views.”

However, according to the department’s statement, several people “chose instead to take over the roadway and obstruct traffic at the entrance and exit to the arena.”

Obstructing traffic, the protesters were addressed by members of the Colorado Springs Public Order Response Team. They issued several warnings before police “engaged with them and made the arrests on failure to desist or disperse charges,” reported Fox News.

“The crowd disregarded the orders, and a number of people were taken into custody,” the Denver Post reported, citing a police statement. The eight suspects were handcuffed and brought to the El Paso County jail, where they were cited and released.
