68% of Americans Felt Safer During Trump’s Administration

A Convention of States Action/Trafalgar Group poll published on Thursday revealed that the majority of Americans felt safer a couple of years ago when former President Donald Trump was in the White House.

The survey asked, “Do you feel as safe in America today as you did 2 years ago?”

It found that 67.9% of the respondents do not feel as safe in America today compared to two years ago. Meanwhile, 27.1% believe they feel as safe, while 5% said they were unsure.

A majority of Republicans (86.8%) and independents (64.1%) said they don’t feel as safe compared to two years ago. Meanwhile, Democrats are relatively split, with 47.8% saying they feel as safe while 44.9% say they don’t.

The poll was conducted between September 17 and 20, 2022, with 1079 respondents. It has a +/- 2.9% margin of error.
