White House: Biden Planning to Run for Reelection in 2024
On Monday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre revealed that U.S. Pres. Joe Biden plans to run for reelection in 2024.
At the daily White House press briefing on Monday, Jean-Pierre was asked if Biden would run despite concerns of Democratic strategists regarding his age, which will be 82 at the beginning of his second term.
“First of all, let’s reset for a second,” the White House press secretary responded. “I cannot talk about elections. I cannot be a political analyst from here or, you know, or the midterms or anything like that or including 2024.”
Biden Has Repeatedly Stated Plans to Run for Reelection
To be clear, as the President has said repeatedly, he plans to run in 2024.

“The president, as you know, has been asked that question many times, and he has answered it,” she went on to say. “His answer has been pretty simple, which is, yes, he's running for reelection. I can't say more than that.”
This response came a couple of days following David Axelrod’s comments. Axelrod, the former chief strategist to Pres. Barack Obama, told the New York Times: “The presidency is a monstrously taxing job and the stark reality is the president would be closer to 90 than 80 at the end of a second term, and that would be a major issue.”
Meanwhile, Shelia Huggins, a lawyer and DNC member, told the paper, “Democrats need fresh, bold leadership for the 2024 presidential race. That can’t be Biden.”
In the past, the U.S. president has mentioned that he plans on running for reelection if he is “in good health.”
