Biden Admin Urges Americans to Get COVID-19 Booster Shot Now
The Biden administration will push everyone to get a coronavirus booster vaccine this fall to prevent what it thinks will be a new wave of infections, a White House official said on Sunday.
According to Reuters, the official stated that although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported an increase in hospital admissions and infections due to the virus, overall levels are still low and caution is advised.
According to reports, Moderna, Novavax, Pfizer, and German partner BioNTech SE have all developed coronavirus vaccines that are prepared and targeted for the XBB.1.5 subvariant.
The revised coronavirus vaccination is effective against the “Eris” and “Fornax” subvariants in people, according to Moderna's early findings released on Thursday.
The revised doses are anticipated to be available in the upcoming weeks for the autumn vaccination season, subject to approval from health officials in the United States and Europe, according to the Reuters article.
“We will be encouraging all Americans to get those boosters in addition to flu shots and RSV shots,” the official said, referring to the Respiratory Syncytial Virus.
Following the January discovery that health officials want to make coronavirus booster vaccines an annual event in America, reviving a request initially made by President Joseph Biden, a new push for Americans to queue up for booster shots has been made, according to Breitbart News.
Last year, Biden first recommended Americans to obtain more coronavirus vaccinations, suggesting one more annual booster dose.
“If you’re fully vaccinated, get one more COVID shot. Once a year. That’s it,” Biden said during a speech on his imitation White House video set.
Even though he had previously had the illness in July and recovered from it, the president received his fifth coronavirus shot live on television.
