A protest made up of people from all across the nation happened in front of the White House on Sunday night, in an effort to persuade President Joe Biden and his administration to take a firmer stance in supporting the residents of Cuba going against their communist government.

The Biden administration announced its support of the protest in Cuba while also leveling sanctions. According to the Miami Herald, even the said protesters had other expectations. Some of them even suggested military intervention.

Maria Fundora, the head of Cuba Libre in Texas, noted that “We went into Kuwait, Somalia” without asking for anyone’s permission. She also noted that U.S. forces killed Usama Bin Laden” without asking anyone. Therefore, she felt disbelief when they said Cuba needs to do something as horrible for the country to act.

A realistic option the U.S. can take is to work around internet outages in Cuba so that the rest of the world can better learn about the events in the islands with accounts coming from residents.
