Double-Amputee Veteran Goes Skydiving with U.S. Flag and Trump 2020 Parachute
A veteran with two prosthetic legs went skydiving out of an airplane while carrying a huge American flag over the weekend. He carried it down to the 80th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.
Retired Sgt. 1st Class Dana Bowman “made a stunning entrance at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally,” as described by Kelo, as he parachuted in with an American flag and “Trump 2020” stenciled inside his parachute.
According to Bowman’s website, he was a Special Forces Soldier and a member of the U.S. Army’s elite parachute team, the Golden Knights. He lost his legs in an accident during the annual Golden Knights training in Yuma, Arizona, in 1994, his website reads.

Nonetheless, the accident has not stopped him from skydiving. He has achieved 4,000 jumps – many of which after the accident.
“Without what our warriors, veterans, or soldiers have done for us we wouldn’t have our freedom. And that’s why we’re here in Sturgis today,” Bowman said.
Kelo reported that Bowman says he still finds jumps like these to be especially moving.
“You know it is so exhilarating to be an inspiration to a lot of them,” Bowman said. “Some are looking for hope. Hope for despondent, courage to the timid, and strength to the weak.”
According to Fox News, Bowman jump coincided with the arrival of the Sturgis Rally’s Veterans Ride, to help kick off the rally on Friday. The event runs until August 16th and is expected to draw around 250,000 visitors amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
