Musk Slams Far-Left Groups For Telling Firms To Boycott Twitter
Billionaire Elon Musk is calling for an investigation of far-left groups reportedly pressuring advertisers to boycott Twitter. Earlier, left activist groups want major firms to drop Twitter if Musk proceeds to deregulate the social platform.

Musk Wants Far-Left Groups Investigated
The incoming owner of Twitter warned that far-left groups want to impose their brand of woke free speech.
Ahead of Musk’s assumption, these far-left groups are assuming that Musk will remove content moderation policies on the platform.
CNN reported that among the companies petitioned by the far-left groups are Coca-Cola, Kraft, and Disney.
Meanwhile, these left-leaning activists want these firms and others to boycott Twitter if Musk frees up the platform from content moderation.
Previously, Twitter implemented a broad content moderation program that banned accounts that promote hate speech and election misinformation.
However, a disproportionate part of the accounts banned by Twitter came from conservatives or right-wing groups.
Far-Left Groups Want To Keep Opponents Muzzled
Among the far-Left groups that signed the petition, the letter is some of the country’s most vocal leftist activists. They include Black Lives Matter, GLAAD, Media Matters for America, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and the Women’s March.
In a letter sent to companies ahead of the 2022 NewFronts digital advertising conference, the groups want companies to pressure Twitter.
Specifically, they want companies to force Twitter to retain its content moderation policies. Otherwise, the letter suggests that companies threaten to withdraw funding.
The letter also warned companies “your brand risks association with a platform amplifying hate, extremism, health misinformation, and conspiracy theorists.
Under Musk’s management, Twitter risks becoming a cesspool of misinformation”. It added that advertisers’ “dollars can either fund Musk’s vanity project or hold him to account. We call on you to demand Musk uphold these basic standards of community trust and safety”.
Musk Fires Back At Far-Left Groups
Meanwhile, Musk fired back at the far-left groups who sent the letter. The billionaire tweeted a message asking who funds these groups.
“Who funds these organizations that want to control your access to information? Let’s investigate…Sunlight is the best disinfectant.”
Last week, Twitter’s board of directors unanimously approved an acquisition bid offered by Musk. The billionaire offered to take the company private and will pay shareholders $54.20 per share, or $44 billion in total.
Consequently, the billionaire also anticipated that many will oppose his plans in taking the platform private and impose his brand of free speech.
Both Left and Right Will Get Upset
“Attacks are coming thick and fast, primarily from the left, which is no surprise,” Musk tweeted. “However I should be clear that the right will probably be a little unhappy too,” he added.
In addition, Musk likely referred to reactions to his plans to turn Twitter into a truly open marketplace of ideas. “My goal is to maximize area under the curve of total human happiness, which means the ~80% of people in the middle.”
In a separate tweet, Musk added that Twitter should hold the middle ground. “For Twitter to deserve public trust, it must be politically neutral, which effectively means upsetting the far right and the far left equally.”
