Matthias Ajple, 43, was sentenced to 90 days in Indian River County Jail and one year of supervised probation after spitting on a fellow bar patron in a “Make America Great Again” hat.

Ajple entered a no-contest plea; Judge David Morgan found Ajple guilty of battery. Surveillance footage shows that Ajple approached Robert Youngblood, 67, at a bar in Vero Beach on October 26th.

Ajple placed a paper towel on Youngblood's head to cover up the text on his hat. He then slapped the bill of the hat before telling him to “go back to Russia, you f— communist,” said investigators. According to an Indian River County Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit, Ajple then spat on Youngblood and left the bar.

The Palm Beach Post reported that “Youngblood wrote down the car’s license plate number and deputies tracked down Ajple at his home.”

“I don't even care that I'm going to jail; this is actually exciting. Plus, I have more time on this earth than he does anyway; he probably feels so good about himself,” said Ajple.

According to The New York Post, Ajple will also “pay about $700 in fines and court costs and another $155 in restitution to Youngblood.”
