GOP Probe finds Hunter Biden’s Work in Ukraine Raised Criminal Concerns
A Republican-led effort to probe Hunter Biden’s work at a Ukraine gas company turned up a ton of dirt on the former Vice President’s son.
The Republican Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, Sen. Ron Johnson, launched the investigation into Hunter Biden’s tenure at a Ukrainian gas company in August of last year. This comes after several Republicans raised corruption concerns about the arrangement. Investigators released the probe’s findings earlier this week. Their report shows that several members of the Obama administration also had serious concerns about the arrangement constituting a potential conflict of interest. They also discovered several instances of shady financial transactions with foreign nationals that raised criminal concerns with investigators.
Hunter Biden and a Gas Company in Ukraine
The Senate report examines Hunter Biden's dealings in Ukraine, where he held a paid seat on the board of gas company Burisma, and alleges that that work posed a conflict of interest at a time when Biden was vice presidenthttps://t.co/oD9Lab5EfV

Hunter joined the board of a Ukrainian natural gas firm. Meanwhile, his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, was responsible for heading up policy in the region. Two officials from the Obama White House raised concerns about Hunter’s work because they feared a potential conflict of interest. In early 2015, George Kent, the former Acting Deputy Chief at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine, felt that Hunter Biden’s role at Burisma was improper. With this, he took his concerns to officials in Vice President Joe Biden’s office. However, the office never acted to address the situation.
Kent says Hunter Biden’s work at Burisma made it very- uncomfortable for officials working to address Ukrainian corruption. In a September 2016 email to his colleagues, Kent wrote, “Furthermore, the presence of Hunter Biden on the Burisma board was very awkward for all U.S. officials pushing an anticorruption agenda in Ukraine.”
Senior State Department Official Amos Hochstein was also worried about Hunter Biden’s employment with Burisma. According to the investigative committee’s report, Hochstein brought his concerns directly to Vice President Biden and his son Hunter back in October of 2015. Sources indicate that Hochstein feared “Hunter Biden’s position on Burisma’s board enabled Russian disinformation efforts and risked undermining U.S. policy in Ukraine.” Again, no one within the administration acted to resolve the issue.
A Cover-Up?
These and several other instances led investigators to conclude that the Obama administration willingly overlooked the problematic arrangement. With this, the conflict of interest ultimately impacted the administration’s foreign policy efforts in the country. “Moreover, this investigation has illustrated the extent to which officials within the Obama administration ignored the glaring warning signs when the vice president’s son joined the board of a company owned by a corrupt Ukrainian oligarch,” investigators wrote in the report.
Vice President Biden later pressured Ukrainian officials to fire a prosecutor who was threatening to investigate Burisma for corruption. At the time, the administration was aware that a prominent Russian oligarch and Burisma stakeholder
Investigators also found several instances of suspicious financial transactions between Hunter Biden and shady foreign nationals from Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, and China. At the time, the administration was aware that Mykola Zlochevsky, a prominent Russian oligarch and the owner of Burisma, paid a $7 million bribe to Ukrainian officials to stave off a potential investigation. Despite the obvious concerns, Biden’s office didn’t want U.S. officials to pressure Zlochevsky. Instead, it pushed Ukrainian officials to fire the prosecutor who wanted to investigate the corruption allegations.
Hunter Biden also received payments from foreign nationals from China, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine. In one instance, the wife of Moscow’s then-mayor wired the vice president’s son $3.5 million for an unknown reason. The probe also discovered suspicious transactions between Hunter Biden and “nonresident women” who “appear to be linked to an ‘Eastern European prostitution or human trafficking ring.’”
Mainstream Media Ignoring Reports Once Again

Amazingly, the mainstream media is dismissing this report despite the fact it references several examples of concrete evidence. Democrats are also working overtime to undermine the report’s findings. The Trump-hating media outlets are desperately trying to bury this story, but the facts are there. Do you think the media reaction would be the same if this story involved one of Trump’s sons instead of Hunter Biden? Absolutely not.
The 84-page report ends with a reference to the left’s efforts to derail and undermine the investigation. “The Chairmen’s investigation has faced many obstacles from the minority and from executive agencies that have failed to comply with document requests. Accordingly, there
remains much work to be done.”
Hunter Biden’s attorney hasn’t replied to requests for comments as of Wednesday.
