Hunter Biden Email Reveals $400,000 In Undisclosed Income From Burisima Holdings
Hunter Biden failed to disclose “approximately $400,000” in income, according to an email that has recently surfaced. He reportedly collected the said amount during his time working with Ukrainian gas firm Burisima Holdings, which he joined in 2014.
A message from January 16, 2017 was included in one of the many new emails involving Biden. It revealed his income from 2013 to 2015. First reported by NBC News, the emails were allegedly sent to Biden by Eric Scherwin, who was the president of Rosemont Seneca during those years. The email seemed to be a part of Biden and Scherwin’s discussions about alimony and child support in connection to Biden’s divorce, as per Fox News.
“In 2014, you joined the Burisma board and we still need to amend your 2014 returns to reflect the unreported Burisma income,” Scherwin said in his email to Hunter Biden. “That is approximately $400,000 extra so your income in 2014 was closer to $1,247,328,” he then added.
“Increased Income” and “Phantom Money”?
Scherwin further described Biden’s earnings from 2013 to 2014 as well as his “increased income” from 2015. In 2013, Biden reported “$833,614 in income,” according to the email. Meanwhile, in 2014 his taxes reported “$847,328 in income. (To be amended at $1,247,328),” and “$2,478,208” in 2015.
The email then broke down Biden’s income in 2015. It says the president-elect’s son gained “$166,666 from Burnham (for RSA), $216,000 from Boies, $365,403 from Owasco (for RSA), $300,000 one time payment from Eudora (for the 1/3 of CitizensRx).”
What he detailed only “represents all the cash you received directly,” Scherwin then told Biden in the emails. “$1,000,000 of income that all went to RSB and you reported $188,616 in income that also went to RSB,” he wrote. Scherwin also revealed that Biden allegedly did not receive this in cash. Instead, he described it as “phantom money”
“Since you couldn’t have lived on approximately $550,000 a year, you ‘borrowed’; some money from RSB in advance of payments,” Scherwin then revealed.
Scherwin sent a followup email sent the next day, January 17, 2017. In it, he gave an example of child support payments.
“As an example, if you were to provide $10,000 in alimony and $10,000 in child support, you would need $30,000 a month in pre-tax income or $360,000 a year,” Scherwin said in the email. He then offered more scenarios, including one where Biden might pay for the tuition of his daughters.
“Therefore, the above scenario would require you to make $1,080,000 a year,” Scherwin wrote regarding this example. “Anything beyond that would be money for your use,” he then stated, adding: “This does NOT include money for back taxes, etc. however.”
Hunter Biden Under Investigation
President-elect Joe Biden's transition team refused to comment regarding the matter. Last week, they, however, released a statement, saying: “President-elect Biden is deeply proud of his son, who has fought through difficult challenges, including the vicious personal attacks recent months, only to emerge stronger.”
Hunter Biden is currently under investigation for alleged anomalies in his tax affairs. Regarding this, he stated that he will cooperate with the probe. “I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors,” Biden said.
