CNN’s Inside Politics put President Joe Biden on the burner last Sunday. The show’s panel focused on the fact that the President is fast losing political support from all across America. More importantly, Biden’s falling numbers show how the country is seriously lacking the leadership it needs.

Inside Politics Panel Notes Biden Losing Support Across All Demographics

President Joseph Biden delivers his speech | Inside Politics Panel Notes Biden Losing Support Across All Demographics

The CNN Inside Politics panel consists of prominent media members covering the White House.

It includes Bloomberg White House correspondent Jordan Fabian, CNN Capitol Hill reporter Melanie Zanona, and Time Magazine national political correspondent Molly Ball.

In addition, Abby Phillip hosts the show. During last Sunday’s episode, they focused on the fact that the President is losing support across all demographics.

The panel thought that Biden's falling approval ratings are a reflection of his lack of leadership. The network's latest poll puts Biden at a 39% approval rating.

Meanwhile, the latest Quinnipiac University survey reported that only 39% of Americans approve of Biden’s performance as President. In contrast, a whopping 54% disapprove of his leadership.

‘Environment of Overall Discontent’

According to Phillip, the current White House is an “environment of overall discontent”. Groups from both sides of the political fence remain dissatisfied with the way things are going in the country.

Republicans in particular are very unhappy with the current economy. Inflation hit a 40-year high of 8.5% last March, beating the previous month’s record of 7.9%.

Meanwhile, environmental activists are livid over Biden’s decision to resume oil and gas leases on federal land.

Inside Politics noted that Biden is having trouble steering the wheel and that voters are now noticing it.  “People correctly perceive that he's not in control of the situation,” Ball said.

She pointed out that the President’s public support started falling after he mishandled the US’s Afghanistan pullout. Since that time, Americans haven't gotten “a sense of leadership from the White House”.

Nobody felt that “there's a president in control, who is strong and consistent and knows what he's doing,” she added. In addition, we don’t have a President that “can project a consistent message from one day or the next.”

Inside Politics Say Biden Continues To ‘Step on His Own Messaging’

Ball also commented that during the times that Americans agreed with Biden, he continued to “step on his own messaging”.

This includes the positive support Biden received from his handling of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Even during these successes, Biden often issues contradictory statements. This led to White House staffers scrambling to control the damage.

For example, the White House had to take back Biden’s comments that the US will send troops to Ukraine. He also casually mentioned during a speech in Poland that Biden “cannot remain in power”.

Administration officials had to clarify that the President nor the government does not condone any action to depose a head of another country.

Democrats Distancing Themselves From Biden

As a result of Biden’s perceived lack of leadership, a number of Democrats are already distancing themselves from the President. Ball said that this should alarm the President and his circle.

“It is a sign that they sense that there is nothing to be gained by continuing to be allies of the president,” Ball said. In addition, Biden repeatedly insists on “doing everything” to keep prices down.

However, he also keeps blaming inflation on Russian President Vladimir Putin. By pointing to “Putin’s price hike” as the culprit, Biden effectively ignores the impact his administration’s policies caused on the economy.

Meanwhile, Fabian noted Biden’s hemorrhaging support from young voters. A recent Gallup poll showed Biden enjoys a paltry 21% support from Gen Z voters.

He also holds support from only 19% of millennials. Fabian thinks it’s because he largely abandoned the young voters by continually ignoring calls to forgive student loans.

“Those numbers are a tremendous failure for a Democratic president to have numbers like that among young voters,” Fabian noted.
