The wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, tested positive for the coronavirus and “will remain in isolation for the time being,” as announced by Canadian government officials.

They also said the prime minister “is in good health,” and his wife “is feeling well,” showing “mild” symptoms.

A statement from the PM's office says she tested positive for coronavirus after returning from a trip to London.

The couple is now self-isolating. While the Prime Minister is in good health, he will remain in isolation for 14 days.

BBC reported that there are no plans at present for Mr. Trudeau to be tested for coronavirus.

“The prime minister will continue to fully assume his duties and will address Canadians tomorrow [Friday],” his office said.

Los Angeles Times reported that the Prime Minister — “himself voluntarily remaining away from public appearances for two weeks — held a lengthy news conference Friday morning and said he had ‘absolutely no symptoms.’ He asserted that he would not be tested and added that he did not believe he was a ‘vector’ of the disease but acknowledged that his wife’s condition — her case is described as ‘mild’ — focused attention on the threat.”
