Rapper Kanye West has reportedly dropped his 2020 presidential bid.

According to Fox News, West’s campaign has “reportedly been suspended less than two weeks after he shocked the nation with a tweet that confirmed his decision to run for president of the United States in November.”

A “get-out-the-vote specialist” named Steve Kramer claims that the rapper has already dropped “out” of the bid. This happened after hiring both “paid and volunteer” staff to help him secure signatures in Florida and South Carolina.

According to Intelligencer, his understanding was that West’s team was “working over weekend there, formalizing the FEC and other things that they’ve got to do when you have a lot of corporate lawyers involved.”

The report added that the signature-gathering process remains ongoing. Additionally, Kramer said, “we had overwhelming support to get him on the ballot.”

“Whether anybody is going to vote for him or not is up to them. They got a lot of people who they’ve got both on their volunteer side and their contracted side,” said Kramer.

An anonymous source claimed that they were hired for $5,000 to help West gather signatures in Florida so that his bid can meet the state's ballot deadline on July 15th. Intelligencer reported that he needed “132,781 valid signatures from Florida voters in less than a week.”

No Word From West

Ben Jacobs, the writer of the Intelligencer report, wrote that he reached out to the rapper’s publicist for confirmation on his recent efforts when West’s team suddenly “went dark.”

“As I waited for a response, I followed up with Kramer who told me, ‘He's out,’” Jacobs said.

According to Kramer, the staff felt “disappointed” that West has allegedly suspended his efforts.

“Everyone has their personal decision about why they make decisions. Running for president has to be one of the hardest things for someone to actually contemplate at that level,” Kramer added.

West has initially mentioned his dreams of being the third candidate to run against President Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION,” he said.
