McDonald’s to Bring Back Some Menu Items After COVID-19 Reductions

Heads up, fast food lovers! McDonald’s plans to bringing back some of its menu items that they cut off when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country.

McDonald’s cut much of its menu – including all-day breakfast, salads, grilled chicken, and chicken tenders – to expedite the service for its drive-thrus and deliveries. Nonetheless, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said that some of the removed dishes will return.

“[The] limited menu served a purpose for a period of time, but we have to be also attentive to what the customers are looking for when they come to a McDonald’s and I think it’s going to vary market by market,” said Kempczinski at a virtual conference.

“Whether it goes all the way back to where we were pre-COVID, I think that's probably unlikely. But I think it's equally unlikely that we're going to stay with the current menu,” he added.

The CEO did not say which items will be returning or when.

On the other hand, the National Owners Association at McDonald’s said its members wanted to permanently keep the reduced menu.

“The limited menu and ease of operations are allowing our teams to focus and provide blazing fast service,” said Blake Casper, chairman of the independent franchisee association. Restaurant Business Online originally reported this news.

“We are convinced,” he added. “Keeping our menus simplified is your NOA's number one priority.”
