Michigan Protestors Slam Biden on His Failing “Build Back Better” Agenda
On Tuesday, President Joe Biden went to Michigan to promote the “Build Back better” agenda. However, a group of angry protesters happened to be near where he delivered a speech, waiting for him.
Around 500 people were protesting in Howell on Tuesday, according to a report by the Detroit Free Press. Many of them chanted profanities against Biden. Howell can be found between Detroit and Lansing, the state capital.

At a certain point, the group cheered when a green front-end loader drove through the road, brandishing a “No Biden” sign.
Meanwhile, another person in the crowd carried a sign that read “Build Back Broke.”
A lot of people in the crowd told Detroit’s FOX 2 that they disliked how large the $1.5 infrastructure bill was or that of the $3.4 trillion “reconciliation bill” the administration was pushing.
They also mentioned the ongoing immigration crisis at the southern border and the vaccine mandates as their reason for going against the president.
The protesters also spoke about the migrant crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border and vaccination mandates as reasons for opposing Biden.
Additionally, several people in the crowd got asked about their theories as to why Biden chose to deliver an address in Howell.
Meshawn Maddock, who serves as the co-chair of Michigan’s Republican Party, says he thinks the president is hoping “to boost Slotkin” and give him a bit of praise. Maddock is referring to U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, who will run for reelection next year. He also pointed out that it’s obvious how Slotkin will vote on the bill.
According to Republican Paul Junge, who went against Slotkin in 2020, said that the representative “is not the moderate she said she was,” as reported by Detroit News. He also said that residents of this district would see this and vote her out. Junge said he was prepared to be the alternative to this.
The president delivered his speech at an International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324 training facility.
Biden stated that his plan was made to become a “reinvestment” in the county so that the U.S can remain competitive in the world economy for years to come.
According to the president, the country’s challenge today is “economic competition.” He also said that the U.S. must “invest in ourselves” so that the world can see how effective American democracy is.
The president’s visit to Michigan happened while his approval ratings have seen a nosedive both within the state and across the nation.
For his address in Howell, Biden was joined by Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, along with most of the Democratic state Congress members.
This trip to Michigan marks the president’s first visit to the state since the 3rd of July, per Detroit News.
