North Korea Bans Sarcasm

North Korea has done the unthinkable … They have banned sarcasm.
In Kim Jong-un's most diabolical move yet, he has had his government crack down on anyone making sarcastic comments about him or the government. All because he can't tell if people are praising him “ironically.” Truly a problem that dictators everywhere struggle with.
Kim Jong-un let the country know by having his party hold mass meetings that were mandatory attendance so government officials could tell them to keep their mouths shut.
“One state security official personally organised a meeting to alert local residents to potential ‘hostile actions’ by internal rebellious elements,” said one North Korean to Radio Free Asia’s Korean Service. “The main point of the lecture was ‘Keep your mouths shut.'”
Clearly placing blame where it lies, the officials called this all America's fault and that any sarcastic expression would constitute unacceptable criticism of the regime.
Somewhat ironically, blaming American is actually one of the things that has led to the “rampant” use of sarcasm. “This habit of the central authorities of blaming the wrong country when a problem’s cause obviously lies elsewhere has led citizens to mock the party,” an anonymous source said.
The region's media outlets have reported on an increase in vocal and public dissent in North Korea with two cases of graffiti that mocked the government in the last week. Clearly, they are losing control.
