A New York Times/Siena College poll done between September 6 to 14, 2022, revealed that more voters agree with the GOP on gun policy.

The said survey had around 1,400 registered voters as respondents.

The respondents were asked, “Who do you agree with more on gun policy?” To this, they responded 47 percent to 43 percent, in favor of the Republican Party over the Democrats

The survey also asked, “Who do you agree with more on crime and policing?” The voters responded 47 percent to 37 percent, still agreeing with Republicans over Democrats.

The said survey also asked respondents if they back “A ban on semiautomatic weapons and high-capacity magazines.” To this, 49 percent said they do not support such a ban. On the other hand, 46 percent said they did.

When the poll results were categorized among voting patterns, it showed that 74 percent of Biden voters supported a ban on semiautomatic weapons and magazines with a “high capacity.” A similar percentage of Trump-supporting voters went against the said ban.
When ages were considered, 54 percent of the youngest voter age group (18-29) said they were opposed to such a ban while 41 percent backed it up.
