Obama Is Not Happy With Congress
On Wednesday, both parties in both houses came together for a historic vote to overturn President Obama's veto over a bill that would allow citizens to sue Saudi Arabia for their part in the terror attacks on 9/11. This is the first time that President Obama has had a veto overturned. Needless to say, he was not happy.
Obama went on a CNN town hall filled with a military audience where he fought back against the overturning of his veto. He argued that this has the potential to put our armed forces at risk to lawsuits from other countries.
He also argued that the senators knew this was a bad vote, but passed it anyway because of elections. “If you’re perceived as voting against 9/11 families right before an election, not surprisingly, that’s a hard vote for people to take. But it would have been the right thing to do … And it was, you know, basically a political vote.”
He also called out the members of Congress for their inability to make a “hard” vote. “It’s an example of why sometimes you have to do what’s hard. And, frankly, I wish Congress here had done what’s hard.”
This coming from a man who hasn't had a hard day in office. However, the question that needs to be asked, why is Obama so hell-bent on protecting Saudi Arabia?
