Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blames former President Donald Trump for the current crisis at the US southern border. Moreover, she pointed to the previous administration as the cause of the current migrant mess. What the administration has inherited is a broken system at the border and they are working to correct that,” ” she said.

More Migrant Children Approaching the Border

Pelosi confirmed that around 700 more migrant children are approaching the southern border to seek entry into the US. This triggered Biden’s directive to send FEMA to help facilitate the transfer of kids from border care facilities into safe homes. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced Biden's latest correction Saturday. He said Biden ordered the implementation of a government-wide effort to house migrant children with support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

On Saturday, the Department of Homeland Security ordered FEMA to assist border authorities for the next 90 days and “help receive, shelter and transport the children” who have crossed into the U.S. illegally. The number of children detained at the border tripled to a record high since Biden assumed office. Close to 4,000 migrant children are currently in Border Patrol custody. Due to the high numbers of children currently showing up at the border, Border Patrol custody longer than the maximum 72 hours.

Pelosi Blames Climate Change As Well

The House speaker also mentioned that “climate change” played a role. Droughts in Central American countries pushed migrants to journey north to the US border.  She doubled down and insisted Trump's policies had it wrong. “This, again, is a transition from what was wrong before to what is right,” she explained.

In addition, she said the Biden administration wants to uphold the standards of the US Refugee Resettlement Program. They are doing so by installing a system that accommodates and respects the USRRP. At the same time, it will rid the nation of Trump’s allegedly “cruel” approach.

Biden’s Open Border Policies

Under Biden’s open-border policies that promised asylum, migrants overwhelmed the borders.  Consequently, this overflowed border detention facilities by as much as 700%. However, the Biden administration and Democrats including Pelosi keep insisting the situation is a challenge. In reality, the country faces an unprecedented border crisis that’s made more dangerous due to COVID-19.

In February alone, the number of migrant encounters alone jumped to over 100,000. The number of unaccompanied children and family units in custody tripled in numbers. The increase in migrants immediately followed Biden’s inauguration. The executive order ordering a stop to border wall construction may have also played a role in the sudden influx.

Trump Blasted Biden’s Policies

Last week, Trump took Biden and his Cabinet to the task. He said that Biden’s weak handling of the border crisis resulted in the US being destroyed by the migrant surge. In a statement released Tuesday, Trump pointed to his border policy wins as president. Under his presidency, the US-Mexico border remained in “great shape”.  and was “stronger, safer and more secure” than the current condition.  If not for the Democrats’ meddling, the border wall would now be standing guard.

“We ended Catch-and-Release, shut down asylum fraud, and crippled the vicious smugglers, drug dealers, and human traffickers. The Wall, despite horrendous Democratic delays, would have easily been finished by now and is working magnificently. Our country is being destroyed at the Southern border, a terrible thing to see!” he concluded.
