On Tuesday, President Trump has tweeted that he will announce his choice for the Supreme Court on Saturday.

“I will be announcing my Supreme Court Nominee on Saturday, at the White House! Exact time TBA,” he wrote.

While Trump did not specify which candidate he is leaning toward, his eventual choice “would cement a solid conservative majority on the nation’s highest court for a generation,” said Politico.

According to an earlier report from USA Today, Trump said on Monday that “he wants to wait until after memorial services for the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.” Ginsburg, 87, died last Friday following cancer complications.

Fox News reported that the president committed to making a choice promptly.

Earlier this week, Trump said during a campaign rally that he will nominate a woman to the high court. Fox News has learned that he has already met with the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Amy Coney Barrett.

According to him, 11th Circuit Judge Barbara Lagoa is also a possibility. “I may. She is highly thought of,” Trump said when asked about Lagoa.

Politico reported that Trump is believed to be “most seriously considering” federal appeals court judges Amy Coney Barrett and Barbara Lagoa. Sources say that Trump was also considering three others: Judge Joan Larsen, Judge Allison Jones Rushing, and Kate Todd.
