More Staff Members Are Leaving The Office of the Vice President

More staff members belonging to the office of Vice President Kamala Harris are signifying their desire to quit. Earlier, many staffers gave their notices.

Symone Sanders, Other Staff Members Leaving Office of VP Harris

Earlier last week, the Vice President’s senior adviser Symone Sanders said she’ll leave her post by the end of the year. In addition, key members of Harris’ office are also leaving within the year. Many are also considering leaving as well.

Much earlier, Harris’ communications director Ashley Etienne quit days before Thanksgiving. Two other communication aides are allegedly planning to resign from their posts. 

Fox News contributor Joe Concha pointed to Harris’ approval ratings as the cause for the mass desertion. Upon assuming office, the Vice President enjoyed a 46% approval rating.

However, her ratings began to turn worse. A recent poll showed her approval rating almost down to half at 28%. 

VP Office Is Now A Sinking Ship

Concha believes the office of the Vice President is now a sinking ship. He said that if your boss’ approval ratings are down to 28% and lower in US southern states, “I guess I would leave too because this is a sinking ship,” said Concha.

Rumors also floated for months that the office of the Vice President features a toxic workplace environment. “People are thrown under the bus from the very top, there are short fuses and it’s an abusive environment,” according to a source.

This source, who has direct knowledge of the workings of Harris’ office, confirmed the toxic environment. “It’s not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported but a place where people feel treated like s—.”

White House, Democrats Downplay Resignations

Meanwhile, the White House downplayed the steady departures from Harris’ office. President Joe Biden’s press secretary, Jen Psaki, said that it’s natural for staffers to move on.

“Working on a presidential campaign…and working in the first year of a White House is exciting and rewarding, but it is also grueling and exhausting.

It’s all of those things at once,” she said. Biden himself did not comment on the string of resignations at the VP’s office. 

However, other Democratic officials are telling Harris to accept the turnover as a reset. Democratic strategist Donna Brazile told the media outlet, Politico, that opportunities remain available. 

“Every opportunity that you get in politics to renew and repurpose is a good opportunity. In every stage of [Harris’] life, there were people she could bring with her, and then there were people that she had to pick up along the way because of the new responsibilities.

And I think that this is an opportunity like she's done with throughout her career to finding people who are able to take their seats at the table because guess what? There's something new on the menu,” she said.
