Pittsburgh Steelers’ Stephon Tuitt Says He Is “Not Kneeling for the Flag”
Stephon Tuitt, American football defensive end for the Pittsburgh Steelers, said on Monday that he will not kneel during the national anthem on this coming NFL season.
“Also I’m not kneeling for the flag and screw anybody who have [sic] a problem with that. My grandmother was a [sic] immigrant from the Carribean [sic] and age worked her ass off to bring 20 people over the right way,” Tuitt wrote on Twitter. He also shared that she did not have money. He further shared that his grandmother worked hard and studied to become a nurse. “She living good now.”
In contrast, Mike Tomlin, Steelers' head coach, said last month that he will support any player’s decision to kneel.

Tolmin said that they intend “to support those guys in any statement or action they take.” He said they will do so as long as the athletes do so “thoughtfully with class,” including kneeling.
Fox News reported that earlier in the offseason, Cameron Heyward, Tuitt’s teammate, said the team would protest in unity however they choose to do so.
“I think we want to stay united in what we do and what we want to accomplish,” Heyward said during a conference call last month. “Coach T (Tomlin) always told me that if we win a Super Bowl, that's not enough for the city of Pittsburgh. We want to leave a lasting change on our community as well.”
