Tactical Marine Unit troopers of the Texas Department of Public Safety apprehended a Mexican national for allegedly transporting migrants across the Rio Grande at Eagle Pass. Under Operation Lone Star, Texas troopers collaborated with Florida Fish and Wildlife game wardens sent to the border region.

Texas DPS spokesperson Lt. Chris Olivarez tweeted a video of a DPS Tactical Marine Unit transporting an arrested Mexican national to an Eagle Pass boat ramp. According to investigators, the guy, Armando Grimaldo-Hernandez, was transporting migrants across the Rio Grande from his birthplace of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, into Texas.

Grimaldo-Hernandez is now facing criminal charges in the state, according to Olivarez. Person smuggling, criminal trespass, dodging and resisting arrest are among the allegations.

As part of a mutual aid contract between the two states, Florida Fish and Wildlife state police officers are deployed to Texas as part of Governor Greg Abbott's Operation Lone Star.

Olivarez had earlier posted a video of a group of migrants tunneling through shipping containers placed up as a border barrier at Eagle Pass' Shelby Park. To evade capture, the six migrants tunneled beneath the containers and razor wire. They are now facing criminal trespass accusations at the state level.
