Two Porch Pirates Dress Up as Nurses and Steal Packages Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
In a Washington state community, two thieves have taken advantage of the coronavirus pandemic. They dressed up as nurses and stole packages off porches. Two women wore dark blue scrubs and approached homes in the city, with one of them wearing surgical gloves. Police released security camera footage showing that these porch pirates shared a maroon sedan.
The police “do not believe they are actual nurses,” they said in a statement posted on Facebook. “Both suspects have been reported as stealing packages delivered to Kennewick residences,” the statement also said. The post then asked the public to help the police identify the suspects.
“The nurses we are fortunate to know only give their time, lives, and take the vitals of their patients (not their property),” says the Facebook post.

Kennewick resident Deanne Collette posted two videos on Facebook showing the porch pirates in the act. Security surveillance shows a woman “dressed as a nurse brazenly take a package waiting in front of the front door of Collette’s home and walking away with it,” reported The Daily Mail.
Another video showed a car, which looks like a Kia Optima sedan, parked in front of Collette’s home. It appears that a woman put the stolen package into the trunk of the car. She then entered the driver’s side seat.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) clarified that it is not likely for the virus to spread from domestic or international mail, products, or packaging. However, “the agency said it may be possible for the infection to spread by touching a surface that has the virus on it and then touching your own face,” reported Fox News.
