Trending Google Searches on Election Day: “Liquor Store Near Me,” “Fries Near Me”
According to Google, searches on its site for “liquor store near me” and “fries near me” were at an all-time high on Tuesday night.
“Chinese food near me” was also one of the top trends in U.S. search on Tuesday evening.
According to Wion News, Google searches for “liquor store near me” and “liquor store open near me right now” on Election Day skyrocketed with a noticeable spike in the last 24 hours. While these phrases are common in the U.S., the figures have crossed a high of more than five years.
The word “election” was the most searched term globally in the previous 24 hours, as Google noted on late Tuesday.
According to the search giant, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has been the most searched candidate in the U.S. over the past day. He has accounted for 51% of candidate searches.
On the other hand, President Trump has accounted for 42% of searches.
Libertarian Party nominee Jo Jorgensen accounted for 6%, and Green Party nominee Howie Hawkins accounted for 1%.
The company clarifies that the data “is an indication of curiosity in the subject or candidate. It should not be considered an indication of voter intent.”
