Trump Announces 2024 Reelection Run

Former President Donald Trump announced his intent to run for president in 2024 on Tuesday.

“Two years ago we were a great nation and soon we will be a great nation again,” Trump said.

The former president made the announcement at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, alongside former first lady Melania Trump, as the Lee Greenwood anthem “God Bless the United States of America” played.

The raucous crowd of supporters chanted “USA!” as the former president discussed his comeback campaign, which has been in the works for several months

“You and all those watching are the heart and soul of this incredible movement in the greatest country in the history of the world,” Trump said.

Trump recalled leaving office following the 2020 presidential election just as the United States was about to enter a “Golden Age” before President Joe Biden took office.

He reflected on his policy accomplishments during his four years as president, including leading the United States through a pandemic.

“Inflation was non-existent, our southern border was by far the strongest ever,” he said.

Trump also recalled his historic effort to impose economic tariffs on China, which he claimed enraged Chinese leaders and possibly inspired them to try to influence the election results.

“Many people think that because of this China played a very active role in the 2020 election. Just saying. Just saying,” the former president said.

Trump also mentioned the relatively peaceful nature of world affairs during his presidency.

“China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea were in check. They respected the United States and they respected me. I knew them well,” he said.

Trump mentioned the deadly explosion in Poland just hours before, implying that it was most likely a Russian rocket that had landed across the border.

He scrutinized Biden’s way of leading the nation, saying the latter was “leading us to the brink of nuclear war — a concept unimaginable just two short years ago.”

Trump said that the US under the Biden administration is a “nation in decline” and a “failing nation” where Americans were experiencing “pain, hardship, anxiety, and despair.”

“Our country is being destroyed before your very eyes,” he said.

Trump: Make America Great and Glorious Again

The border had been invaded by migrants, illegal immigrants, smugglers, and criminals under Biden, he claimed.

“In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for the president of the United States,” Trump said.

The former president mentioned the midterm elections, which fell short of the predicted “red wave” in Congress but celebrated Republicans regaining control of the House.

“Nancy Pelosi has been fired. Isn’t that nice?” He said.

He urged his supporters to vote for Republican Senate candidate Hershel Walker in the runoff election in Georgia.

During his announcement, the president made no mention of any potential primary opponents, instead casting his campaign as a rebuff to efforts by the Washington establishment to draft another candidate.

‘The Washington establishment wants to silence us, but we will not let them do that,” the former president said.
