Trump Attends Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery for Veterans Day
On Wednesday, President Trump attended a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to mark Veterans Day. This serves as his first public event since Joe Biden became the projected winner of the presidential race.
Fox News reported that first lady Melania Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and second lady Karen Pence joined Trump at the 11 a.m. ceremony.
“On Veterans Day, we pause to pay tribute to all who have proudly worn our Nation’s uniform,” Trump said. “These Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen selflessly placed lives, wellbeing, and security of others before their own,” he added.
“We enjoy the privileges of peace, prosperity, and freedom because of our veterans,” he also said. “We are forever indebted to them beyond measure.”
According to CBS News, Trump and the first lady laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This happened during a ceremony they attended in the morning.
On the other hand, Biden and his wife went to Philadelphia. There, they commemorated the nation's soldiers at the city's Vietnam War Memorial.
“This Veterans Day, I feel the full weight of the honor and the responsibility that has been entrusted to me by the American people as the next president, and I vow to honor our country’s sacred obligation,” Biden said.
