Trump Presides Over Signing of Diplomatic Deals; Proclaims “Dawn of a New Middle East”
President Trump, presiding over the signing of two historic Middle East diplomatic deals between Israel and two Gulf nations, declared the “dawn of a new Middle East” on Tuesday.
BBC explained that this happened amid Israel's landmark deals with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain.
“We’re here this afternoon to change the course of history. After decades of division and conflict we mark the dawn of a new Middle East,” he said at the ceremony.
“Thanks to the great courage of the leaders of these three countries, we take a major stride toward a future in which people of all faiths and backgrounds live together in peace and prosperity,” he added.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the deals and said, “This day is a pivot of history; it heralds a new dawn of peace.”
“For thousands of years the Jewish people have prayed for peace, for decades the Jewish state has prayed for peace, and this is why today we are filled with such profound gratitude,” he added.
Fox News explained more about the deals between Israel and the UAE, and Israel and Bahrain. They “involve the exchanging of ambassadors, establishment of embassies and co-operation on a range of fronts – including trade, security and tourism.”
Netanyahu and the foreign ministers of both the UAE and Bahrain were there to sign the deals at the ceremony. President Trump signed onto each one as a witness. Additionally, the leaders signed a separate trilateral declaration of peace, as per Fox News.
