President Trump's re-election campaign brought in $46 million the fourth quarter of 2019, a sizable haul amid impeachment that leaves the Republican with a massive war chest to unleash on his eventual Democratic rival.

President Trump'sunprecedented fundraising is testament to his wide grassroots support and his stellar record of achievement on behalf of the American people,” said Trump's campaign manager, Brad Parscale.

Trump begins the election year with $102.7 million cash on hand, having started 2019 with just $19.3 million. His campaign said it raised a total of $143 million in 2019, of which it banked $83.4 million.

Trump's $46 million end-of-year haul poured in as the president weathered impeachment by the House of Representatives, which voters and strategists told the Herald would serve to galvanize his base.

Parscale said as much in calling the final quarter of 2019 Trump's “best fundraising quarter this cycle,” attributing it to “a sham impeachment frenzy” that boosted the president's re-election bid.

“The president's war chest and grassroots army make his re-election campaign an unstoppable juggernaut,” Parscale said.

The president's re-election campaign has continued to outpace the fundraising of his Democratic rivals. U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders remains the closest candidate, bringing in $34.5 million in the fourth quarter, his campaign announced Wednesday.

The Trump campaign's fundraising total did not include the amount raised by the Republican National Committee, with which it works in tandem. The Republican camps raised a combined $125 million in the third quarter.
