Trump Rates His Administration’s Response to the Coronavirus: “I’d Rate It a 10”

“I’d rate it a 10,” President Trump said during a White House briefing of the coronavirus task force – pertaining to his administration’s response to the coronavirus. He gave this rating to the administration despite criticisms for a shortage of testing kits and for his downplaying the severity of the pandemic.

“I think we’ve done a great job, and it started with the fact that we kept a very highly infected country, despite all of the, even the professionals saying it’s too early to do that. We were very, very early with respect to China and we would have a whole different situation in this country if we didn’t do that,” he said.

“I would rate ourselves and the professionals, I think the professionals have done a fantastic job,” the president said – crediting public health officials.

Fox News reported that his remarks come as “he and Democrats clash over his handling of the virus. Many have raised concerns with Trump's claims that anyone who wants a coronavirus test can do so, despite a shortage of testing kits.”

According to HuffPost, in the same briefing, Trump urged Americans to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people and to stay away from public areas to limit the spread of COVID-19. This is “including the young and healthy,” for the next 15 days, he said.

The Hill explains that Trump declared a national emergency last week – “a move that opens up more than $40 billion in funding to states as they look to combat the coronavirus, which has sickened nearly 4,000 people in the United States.”
