Twitter Permanently Bans MyPillow CEO

Twitter has permanently suspended the account of Mike Lindell, the CEO of MyPillow, on their website on Monday. The social media site cited repeated violations of their election misinformation policy.

Lindell is a known loyal supporter of former President Donald Trump. He has financed protests even after the elections in an effort to overturn the results that indicated President Joe Biden’s victory.

The MyPillow CEO used his Twitter account to spread unproven claims of electoral fraud. He had almost half a million followers prior to his ban.

In the months following the presidential election, Trump has launched many legal challenges, claiming voter fraud took place. Many courts rejected these challenges and claims, even though the former president and his supporters continued to push this narrative.

Lindell, in doing so, violated Twitter’s civic integrity policy multiple times. This is why he was permanently suspended on the platform, as per a Twitter spokesperson. Earlier this month, the social media site has also suspended Trump’s Twitter account.

Being the founder and CEO of MyPillow, conservative media usually show Lindell’s comments and ads. Thanks to his company, Lindell managed to fund many protests by Trump supporters, including a March for Trump bus tour that lasted for two weeks.

However, in an interview with Reuters, he said he did not fund trips that promoted the Jan. 6 protest that turned into a violent riot as Trump supporters mobbed the Capitol. The protest resulted in the deaths of five people.

This event, however, did not change his mind. He said, “I'm never letting the fraud go.”
