  • “I’m being abundantly clear,” said Abbot. “I don’t care what jurisdiction you’re at in the state of Texas. You are going to comply with the law.”
  • “We’re going to pass a ban on sanctuary cities in the state of Texas that will put real teeth in this.”

Texas is taking a hard stance on illegal immigration, and one of the measures the state is taking is to make sure sanctuary cities hurt so badly they stop harboring those who come here unlawfully. Not long ago, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sat down with the Lawrence Jones of The Blaze and discussed some plans the state has moving forward.

But now Texas Governor Greg Abbott himself is putting his foot down. In a recent appearance on Fox Business, he told Lou Dobbs in no uncertain terms that Texas cities will not be harboring illegal immigrants, and if they do they will face consequences.

“I’m being abundantly clear,” said Abbot. “I don’t care what jurisdiction you’re at in the state of Texas. You are going to comply with the law.”

“I’ve already issued a governor’s order cutting off funding from the governor’s office that was going to some of these jurisdictions,” continued Abbott. “But secondly, we’re going to pass a ban on sanctuary cities in the state of Texas that will put real teeth in this, compelling local officials to apply the law of the United States of America.”
