Walmart and grocery delivery platform Instacart have partnered up to offer same-day delivery in four U.S. markets.

According to a spokesperson for Instacart, Walmart will be available through Instacart in several cities. These include Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. This comes as part of its initial launch, beginning Tuesday.

Fox Business reported that this is beneficial for Walmart, which is “locked in an arms race with Amazon and others to expand fresh-food delivery, to further tap into one of the fastest-growing e-commerce sectors, one that has become even more vital during the coronavirus pandemic.”

“Customers love the value we bring with pickup and delivery,” said a Walmart spokesperson to Fox Business. “They’ve turned to us during the pandemic to bring them their goods safely and easily.”

According to The Verge, Instacart already works with major grocery chains such as Albertsons, Aldi, Costco, Kroger, and Target – as well as smaller chain stores like Wegmans and pharmacies like CVS.

An Instacart spokesperson also said in a statement given to CNBC that the new partnership “brings thousands of items — from groceries, alcohol and pantry staples to home decor and improvement, personal care, electronics and more — at everyday low prices from Walmart stores to customers’ doors in as fast as an hour.”
