Clueless Warren Blames Grocery Stores for High Prices

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) blamed grocery store chains for the products’ high prices. Due to her remarks, people ridiculed and mocked her online.

Critics of Pres. Joe Biden’s administration are blaming deficit spending for the recent surge in inflation. Meanwhile, some Democrats have also tried to pass on the blame to corporations in the hopes of exonerating Biden.

According to Warren, store chains are profiting from the high prices of groceries at the expense of working families.

Warren Accuses Grocery Store Chains of Profiting From High Product Prices

In a letter to the leadership of store chains Kroger, Publix, and Albertson’s, the senator wrote: “While many Americans faced the loss of jobs, homes, and loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic, grocery companies like yours saw immense gains through record sales and profits.”

She went on to say, “Your company, and the other major grocers who reaped the benefits of a turbulent 2020, appear to be passing costs onto consumers to preserve your pandemic gains, and even taking advantage of inflation to add greater burdens.”

Following her remarks, people took to social media to slam and mock Warren for her attack on store chains.

For one, Christina Pushaw, the spokesperson of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, said: “You sound like a communist demagogue. Prices rise during inflation. Inflation happens when the government prints too much money.”

Pradheep Shanker from National Review also tweeted: “There was a time Warren was a serious economist, right? Because she has become a complete clown now.”

“Imagine trying to push the idea that Big Grocery and their historic <2% profit margins are the problem,” Jorge Bonilla of the Media Research Center also said.
