A new White House campaign aims to get people back to work. The COVID-19 pandemic caused record unemployment in the country.

On Tuesday, a White House ad campaign was launched to encourage people who are out of work or unhappy in their jobs to “find something new.”

The “Find Something New” campaign’s opening ad shows ordinary people sharing their stories. A companion website presents links to resources. According to Fox Business, the campaign “is a product of the White House's American Workforce Policy Advisory Board, which President Trump created in 2018.”

According to CBS News, the Trump administration has long emphasized vocational training and skills-based jobs as an alternative to college degree programs. However, “the long-in-the-works effort has taken on a new sense of urgency after the coronavirus outbreak cost millions of people their jobs.”

The “Find Something New” website shows various paths such as online learning, intensive programs, apprenticeships, and vocational education. There are also resources such as self-assessments and programs for veterans.

“Jobs are changing — and the pandemic has accelerated the pace. Whether you’re entering the workforce for the first time or need to pivot and retrain, skills-based education can put you on the fast track to an in-demand career. Explore your options to find something new,” the website reads.
