White People Time To Pay Up!

Published

on

On Monday night, a bar in Portland, Oregon hosted people of color and gave them $10 as they arrived — a symbolic gift funded primarily by white people who were asked not to attend the “Reparations Happy Hour.”

A local activist group, Brown Hope, wanted the event to be a space for people of color in a mostly white city to meet, organize, discuss public policy and potentially plan various actions.

The notion of full-scale reparations — sought by some as compensation for the horrors of slavery, Jim Crow and the large wealth gap between white and black U.S. households — was supported by 58 percent of black people and 46 percent of Hispanic people in a 2016 poll.

However, 68 percent of white Americans do not support reparations; when the topic was brought up during the 2016 presidential campaign, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said it was “divisive” and unlikely to get through Congress.

The economist Robert Browne once estimated a fair value for reparations of $1.4 trillion to $4.7 trillion and wrote that reparations should ”restore the black community to the economic position it would have had if it had not been subjected to slavery and discrimination.”

What do you think? Should White people pony up the trillions of dollars owed in reperations? Let us know below…

Reparations? I think not. Slavery was established in America by a British Royal, Slaves were obtained from African Blacks who caught and sold their neighbors, and these were transported on Portuguese ships. Now the important part:
Where would the Blacks in this country today be if their ancestors were not here as slaves. They would be back in Africa, living in poverty in huts, possibly being chased by lions, wearing loincloths and dying at a young age. Instead they are here with unlimited opportunities, access to medicine, technology, etc. If anyone is owed reparations, it is the white man for giving them these opportunities. (I don’t see any Blacks voluntarily heading back to Africa).

  • Karen says:

I totally agree with above comment. I doubt if anyone knows that the first slave maser was BLACK and had a WHITE slave. 1/3 of the Slave Masters in America were BLACK. Less than 10% of the slaves landed in America, most went to Asia on Muslim slave ships. This practice is STILL going on today.

  • Jack Black says:

Kiss my ass! No one in my family or relatives ever had any slaves!

  • Mike says:

Simply looking for yet another hand out! The only thing holding these people back are themselves, their mindset, their own “so called leaders”. They have chose to not leave the plantation!

  • Wayne says:

For former slaves that are still alive, maybe . But if you were not a slave, then all you are asking for is a handout. Caucasian people don’t owe you anything.

  • JIM says:

I think that black’s will never get over anything,IT was white people that freed slaves.Black’s will bitch if you gave them a hundred dollar in cash, they would bitch that is was not in twenty’s.GET OVER IT ,YOU WHERE NOT THERE.

    Free one way tickets “home”.

  • Joseph says:

Since you claim to be African descendants, then why not go back to Africa and demand that you be paid as it was your own people who sold their own kind to the slave dealers. Blame you own ancestors! You get more things given to you than the TRUE NATIVES OF THIS COUNTRY, Quit your self belly aching, start earning and paying your way.

I think we need to go back to the beginning,,,before they became slaves in America. They need to be restored to their original condition before they were captured by other tribesmen. They should be relocated to our desert areas and made to live in straw or mud huts. No water, electricity, radio, television, toilets, antibiotics, western clothing, dental care, air conditioning or motorized transportation. That would put them back to their original situation before the evil whites bought them from their kindly captors.
And staying in the theme of just compensation….They should be charged fair market value for the years they were provided housing, clothing and food. And today’s “victims” should be required to repay whites for any and all free benefits recieved through affirmative action programs,welfare,medical-and educational assistance, and especially damages done to whites who were victims of these programs,or had to pay for them via higher taxes.(This last point amounts to “taxation without representation”)….and was,and is,the basis for war !!!

  • Thomas Ragland says:

How about quit looking for handouts and get a JOB. You can kiss my pearly white as, I nor anyone in my family ever owned a damn slave. So get over it. How many blacks or white ever paid restitution to the American Indian ? They are too proud of a people to ask for handouts. But we owe the American Indians for what we have. Slavery has been over for a 100 yrs. Get a damn job, quit crying.

  • Dave Hansen says:

“I” deserve reparations from the BLACK community. MY ancestors FOUGHT for THEIR freedom. MY ancestors DIED fighting for THEIR freedom. THEY OWE ME for the lives LOST in MY family. I have NEVER had a black person THANK ME for their freedom. Those of us from the north should start a movement DEMANDING war reparations from the FREED BLACK community.

  • Patrick says:

Indeed, blacks imprisoned and sold by blacks. We as humans ,are not responsible for the acts of the past. We learn and move forward! It seems that the Constant remembrance of such past history that they (Africans) should be reminded where the white Europeans came from! History provides lessons in time. As it’s been implied… education, housing, healthcare are all freedoms they would not be obliged! If you don’t like it, go back to the Lions and Hyenas!

  • Lonna says:

Why do I never hear of blacks (& Muslims) being reqired to pay reparations? Check out history. Approximately 300 black & Muslim slave owners in this country back then. My family owned no one – ever. I owe no one!! Kiss grits!

  • 2WarAbnVet says:

Reparations from people who had nothing to do with slavery to people who never were slaves! How appropriate in modern America.

  • Rick Stroud says:

90% of all slaves taken out of Africa went to Muslim countries. Only 10% crossed the ocean. Out of these 90% went to Central or South America. Therefore only 1% of slaves taken out of Africa came to North America. I would think that they would be extremely fortunate that their ancestors came here. The Spaniards and the Muslims were merciless to them. Most were worked to death. The Muslims were notorious for castrating them. If it was me I would be thanking God Almighty that my ancestors were fortunate enough to land here.

  • Norman says:

Give each black in America $1,000,000 and a one way ticket to which ever country they choose with the stipulation they give up their US citizenship and can,t return to US for any reason.
Think about it, if there are 20 million or even 40 million blacks in this country it would be a great deal for all of us.

  • Jerry Tindel says:

Seriously!! First off, way too many people confuse the term “racism” when what really is “Bigotry”. Second of all why does everyone “assume” all black people came from Africa. There are black people everywhere, not just Africa. Thirdly, why should any peoples be “paid reparations” for past transgressions that at the time was considered legal and acceptable regardless that we now consider it Morally wrong. One can’t hold the past accountable. What’s past is PAST! Plus how many people know that at the very peak of slavery in America only 21% of the people owned any slaves and approximately 4% of those slave owners were black people. Even today its hardly a “White” thing to own slaves. Yes Slavery is very much alive and well in this world. Grow up people and take responsibility for your life, your condition and your position in your life. The only thing holding anybody back in this day and age is themselves. Each has obstacles and barriers to overcome. All rich people are not rich and all poor people are not poor. Blame is easy, Responsibility not so much……

  • Michael says:

I am of Irish decent. We were treated worse than slaves, on the same level as Chinese. We didnt have a roof over our heads food in our stomachs or medical care.Yet we are not asking for reparations, maybe we should get them too. We never hadslaves either4

  • voldemort says:

The slaves brought to this country were purchased in Africa from muslim slavers. They still deal in slaves. Most people that disappear in Europe become slaves. They can easily be transported in burkha’s query why not do a 100% reveal of all “Muslim ” women to see how many are human blondes and red heads,

  • paul says:

I talked to a lawyer a number of years back when this Reparations For Slavery issue was being talked about quite a bit at the time. Here’s what he told me. He said that if this goes through in one form or another, anyone who has any sort of wealth here better beware, no matter what your race or religion. He said what was likely to happen, if this happens, shortly afterwards you’re going to see a whole new breed of lawyers pop out of the wood work. Kind of like the Accident Injury Lawyers. These are going to be called Family Tree Lawyers. Their whole profession will be to go back on peoples family trees as far as possible, and find potential improprieties that was committed against their relatives back then, and follow the family tree of the people that that committed the improprities up to the present day, and hold their descendants accountable. To me, that’s really scary, because somewhere in the past, someone screwed over on of youe relatives, and one of your relatives also screwd someone over.

  • I left my part in the toilet, they owe America for civilizing them, even if their own brought them here first !!
