Piers Morgan Fires Back at Critics: ‘Freedom of Speech Is a Hill I’m Happy to Die On’
On Wednesday, English broadcaster Piers Morgan fiercely responded to his critics following the comments he made on “Good Morning Briain” regarding Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview. His remarks culminated in outrage and in the end, he left the show.
Following the incident, Morgan wrote a tweet, saying that “Freedom of speech” is a “hill” he will be “happy to die on.”
In his tweet, he recounted how he didn’t believe what Markle said in the interview. Since then, he said he took some time to reflect on what he said. Morgan then stated that he stood by his opinion. He also thanked the people for all the love and the hate.
He then quoted former British prime minister Winston Churchill regarding free speech and the love and hate it receives.

Apart from his tweet, Morgan continued to reiterate that he doesn’t believe Markle. He also says he believes the damage she has done for the image of the British monarchy is “contemptible.”
He also said that if he ends up falling and being “canceled” because of his opinions regarding the matter, “so be it.”
Last Sunday, Harry and Markle had an interview with Oprah Winfrey. In it, they shared several damaging claims against the British monarchy. They claimed that British tabloids were racist against Markle while she was an active royal.
Additionally, they mentioned that a member of the royal family was concerned over the color of Archie’s skin during Markle’s pregnancy.
Markle also said that the palace prevented her from getting help for suicidal thoughts she was having during her pregnancy.
