Most Americans Believe Congress Should Repeal IRS Agents’ Funding, Survey Finds
A Rasmussen Reports poll released Tuesday revealed that the majority of Americans believe Congress should end funding for additional IRS agents.
According to the survey, more than four in ten Americans oppose Congress approving legislation to hire up to 87,000 extra IRS officers, as specified in the $700 billion “Inflation Reduction Act,” which was approved in August 2022.
As previously reported, the mammoth measure would do nothing to curb inflation while spending billions on climate change efforts and expanding the IRS. As such, it would make it larger than “the Pentagon, State Department, FBI, and Border Patrol combined,” according to Breitbart News.
Per the poll, Republicans are the most inclined to oppose employing thousands of more IRS officers (62 percent), followed by 52 percent of independents and only 16 percent of Democrats.
When asked if they agree of the Republican-led House's decision to reject funding for additional agents, 56 percent replied yes. Forty percent “strongly” approve.
The sentiment seems to be bipartisan, with 64 percent of Republicans, 52 percent of Democrats, and 52 percent of independents supporting the Republican-led House action.
The study was conducted among 900 likely US voters between January 10 and 12, 2022, and has a +/- 3 percent margin of error.
