Alaska Governor Lets Biden Know What He Can Do With His Mask Mandate

The governor of Alaska, Mike Dunleavy, says they will not follow the mask mandate that President Joe Biden insists on implementing.

On Twitter, the governor tagged the president’s official Twitter handle, saying that instead of having a mask mandate, Alaska “will keep doing it the #Alaskaway,” which involves trusting the residents while letting them live their lives.

This statement comes as a reaction to the statements Biden made a few hours earlier. In it, the president urged “every governor, mayor, and local leader” to keep the mask mandate. The president said that it is every American’s “patriotic duty” to wear face masks in fighting off the coronavirus.

However, some criticized his statements, saying Biden is being hypocritical. The president has continuously allowed illegal immigrants to flock to the border, many of them not following any mask mandate.

According to GOP Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, many of these migrants are testing positive for the disease at a rate that is seven times higher than the U.S. population.

Despite this, the president has not done anything to stop this massive influx of illegal immigrants.

Apart from asking local officials from reinstating the mask mandate, Biden also claimed that normalcy will likely not return unless everyone wears a mask.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who is also a physician, has repeatedly criticized the obsession with wearing masks. He says it is ineffective and has pointed out that places with strict mask mandates in place have experienced some of the worst spikes of COVID-19 cases.
