A majority of Americans are becoming less supportive of providing Ukraine with additional aid to help with its protracted battle with Russia, per a survey released on Friday.

According to a CNN poll, 45% of American voters support increased financing for Ukraine while 55 % think Congress shouldn't send any more aid there. 51% of respondents think America has helped Ukraine enough, while 48% tthink it should be doing more.

In February 2022, at the outset of the crisis in Ukraine, 62% of respondents thought Americans ought to contribute more to the cause.

Despite a decline from 72% since the poll conducted in February 2022, 56% of respondents still feel that the Ukraine-Russian war will pose a threat to national security.

According to a CNN poll, more Americans are concerned by the conflict's apparent interminable nature:

“Nearly 8 in 10 are worried about that, including 82% of Democrats, 75% of independents and 73% of Republicans. Nearly two-thirds overall are concerned that the war in Ukraine will lead to increased threats to democracy elsewhere (65%) or lead to Russian attacks elsewhere (64%), and about 6 in 10 are worried it could lead to a broader war in Europe (59%).”

Per the survey, 45% of Americans support President Joe Biden's handling of the Ukraine conflict, and 43% support Biden's handling of U.S.-Russian diplomatic relations.

The Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft's senior adviser Kelley Vlahos argued that the poll does not portend good for Biden.

Vlahos wrote:

The poll also doesn’t bode well for Biden’s handling of major foreign policy issues. Some 53 percent disapprove of how he is handling the war in Ukraine; 56 percent disapprove of how he is handling Russia; and 57 percent disapprove of how he is handling the relationship with China.
