On Monday, people online poked fun at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) after showing up to the posh New York Met Gala in a designer dress that has “Tax The Rich” written on it.

According to Newsweek, ticket prices for the event costs $30,000 per head, which is way pricier than just $1,000 in 1995 when Vouge editor-in-chief Anna Wintour first took the helm of running the event.

The tables at the event, which are usually paid for by brands and fashion houses, costs over $275,000.

Because of this, many have criticized AOC, including some of her Democratic allies.

Rolling Stone Senior Writer EJ Dickinson described the dress as “ugly” and noted that Ocasio-Cortez seemingly forgot at what type of event she attended.

Meanwhile, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) pointed out how Ocasio-Cortez lacked self-awareness, saying her stint at the Met Gala was a giant joke.

On the other hand, Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted: “Cost per Ticket: $30,000. Virtue signaling to your base while partying—without a mask—with the people you claim to hate: Priceless.”
