While contact tracing proves to be an important tool in fighting COVID-19, there have been some privacy concerns. However, a new anonymous app called “I Checked In” now offers a system for contact tracing while alleviating those concerns.

“We need contact tracing at every establishment, but most of us do not want to be ‘tracked,’” it said on their website.

“Our service does not track you, it only traces you to locations you check in at. The application does not know your where abouts prior to or after your check-in,” it added.

The website assures important details. This includes “The venue never knows your information,” “You don't need to touch anything you don't own,” and “Your data is encrypted end to end.”

The app allows customers and small business owners to keep track of who is coming and going and at what times.

“When you visit a ‘venue partner,’ they will ask you to visit this page and click ‘Check In,’ you can do this from the comfort of your own phone by visiting this page or Downloading This App. Checking-in has never been easier, or safer,” the website reads.

According to the creator of the app, entrepreneur Avi Lugassy, he developed the app in order to find a better way of contact tracing. He did so since he noticed that people have an aversion to being tracked, as reported by Fox Business.
