Joy Behar, co-host of ABC’s “The View,” commented on O’Rourke’s calls for a ban on assault-style weapons. This happened while they were discussing the failed 2020 presidential candidacy of former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX). Behar said it was foolish for O’Rourke to announce his plans for gun confiscation before he was elected. Fox News adds that she “advised all politicians to go after the country’s guns after they’ve assumed office.”
Behar’s co-host, Meghan McCain, adds that O’Rourke has “poisoned the well and scared off independent voters from the Democratic party,” says Fox News.
Behar said that politicians who seek to confiscate guns from Americans should not share their plans with the public beforehand. She also pointed out that they should maintain an element of surprise.
According to Behar, “they should not tell everything they’re going to do. If you are going to take people’s guns away, wait until you get elected and then take them away. Don’t tell them ahead of time.”
