Better Late Than Never: Senate Overturns Obama
In a historic vote Wednesday afternoon, the Senate passed a bill that had been previously vetoed by President Obama with an amazing 97 to 1 count. The bill is aimed at helping the families of 9/11 and has a provision allowing these families to sue the government of Saudi Arabia for their involvement in the tragedy. Obama had threatened that he would veto the bill if it came across his desk.
The only hold out was Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid. The two missing votes were Hillary's VP pick Tim Kaine and her runner-up Bernie Sanders.
The bill now goes to the House for their overriding vote. If they are also successful, then the bill will pass into law and mark the first time that Obama has been overruled in his presidency.
As multiple senators have said, we must send a signal to the rest of the world that it is not acceptable to help or harbor anyone who would do us harm of this scale. I am eager to see what Saudi Arabia's response to the bill's passing is and what this will mean to the struggling families of victims and first responders.

I hope that this is just the beginning of Congress accepting responsibility for not putting their foot down on President Obama. He has overused his Executive Order far more than they should have let him get away with this. He is thinking that he is King and doesn’t have to follow the rules. the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. This is not true , he has to follow the Constitution and he cannot follow one rule and not the others. You can’t rule like a King, you are not a King. We pay your wages and you don’t get to decide what you want and when you want.
