Biden Has 14-Point Advantage Over Trump After Chaotic Debate
Following last week’s first presidential debate, Democratic nominee Joe Biden has a 14-point lead nationally over President Trump, according to a new poll.
The survey was conducted by NBC News and The Wall Street Journal between September 30th and October 1st. It covered 800 registered voters and had a margin of error of around 3.5%, reported Fox News.
Fifty-three percent of the respondents said they would vote for Biden while 39% said they would vote for Trump. NBC News reported that this 14-point lead “represents Biden’s largest lead in the NBC News/WSJ poll during the entire campaign; his previous high was 11 points in July.”

“The clear loser from the debate was Donald Trump,” said Jeff Horwitt, a Democratic pollster of Hart Research Associates. “And at least for the short term, this has damaged his standing against Joe Biden.”
Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies, whom Horwitt conducted the survey with, said the survey could represent a “shock to the system” right after an important debate.
With that, the race could go back to the stable 8- to 9-point margin, said McInturff.
According to NBC News, “the biggest declines for Trump were among seniors (who now back Biden by 62 percent to 35 percent) and suburban women (58 percent to 33 percent).”
Men who are 50 years old and above moved to a 1-point advantage for Biden in the latest poll, as compared to a 13-point advantage for Trump in the pre-debate poll by NBC News and WSJ.
