Don’t Trust BLM: 88% of Blacks Support Refunding Police in Maryland
While politicians and pundits in the far left want to defund the police force, average American residents, the people who primarily deal with the crime and anarchy that would come with this, do not.
The most recent time this was seen was in Maryland. There, a poll found that 88% of the black state residents support their Governor’s plan to “re-fund the police.”
According to the Washington Free Beacon, an internal survey saw that 88% of black voters living in Maryland support Republican Gov. Larry Hogan’s plan with getting funds back into the police force.
It also revealed that 64% of possibly mostly black voters in Maryland “strongly support” Hogan’s proposal while 24% “somewhat support” it. This policy also enjoys similar support across racial lines, with 89% of white and 74% of Hispanic voters supporting it.
Therefore, Hogan’s plan came out to be highly well-received among the residents of the state, even though Dems claim it is “divisive” and “misguided.” The left also saw the police re-funding plan worth $150 million as politicized public safety.
Contrary to Dem Claims, Average Americans Support Re-Funding Police
For one, the state’s house speaker Adrienne Jones (D) said, “The governor’s misguided rhetoric of ‘re-fund the police’ is beneath him and the dignity of his office.”
But despite what she and her fellow Democrats say when opposing the bill, it seems the resident of the state has come together to support the proper funding of local authorities.
This is probably due to the lawlessness currently plaguing Baltimore, with its residents forced to live with high crime rates and the suffering that comes with it.
Given this, Hogan defended his plan, saying: “People are being shot nearly every single day [in Baltimore] and we all have an obligation to do something about it right now. I want those families and all of the victims of this violence to know that we will not stop pursuing those criminals who are terrorizing our community.”
