Car Full of Teens Deliberately Hits Officer, Causes Serious Injury

A car full of teenagers ran over a police officer in Montana, seriously injuring him. The Billings Police Department said the driver deliberately sped toward the officer who was giving commands to stop. According to a press release by the department, “the vehicle had fled from officers multiple times previously in the evening.”

The press release said that officers found the car at around 1:12 a.m. Officers were giving commands to those inside the stopped car when it accelerated and drove straight at the officers. “A Billings officer was struck, suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He underwent surgery at a nearby hospital,” reported Fox News.

While his identity has not been released, police said he’s 35 years old and a six-year veteran with the department.

The vehicle fled the area and crashed nearby. According to the press release, the occupants fled on foot and all six were apprehended in the area. The suspects included five girls, ages 13 to 16, and the driver, a 14-year-old boy.

The driver was remanded into youth services and charged with attempted deliberate homicide, police said. An investigation remains ongoing.
