CAUGHT: Two Illegal Immigrants on FBI Terror Watch List Arrested by Border Patrol
Border Patrol arrested two illegal immigrants near Calexico, California. The two men were in both the Terrorism Watch List and No-Fly list of the FBI, as per the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
In the past few months, authorities have apprehended the two men, 33 and 26, respectively, who appeared in the said government watchlists. The older man was apprehended on the night of Jan. 29. When agents found him, they also discovered a cellphone sim card under the insole of his shoe. Authorities then transferred the man into the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Authorities apprehended the younger illegal immigrant in late March. Currently, he is placed in “federal custody pending removal.”
In a press release, Chief Patrol Agent Gregory K. Bovino reiterated the Border Patrol’s mission, which is to protect the nation from terrorists. He said that in this case, the agents at CBP did just that. Bovino added that these arrests show the importance of their mission. They also show how they should stay vigilant in their mission to protect the United States.
According to The Federalist, the arrests follow news saying that people on the watch list were being arrested, as well as those saying that Border Patrol agents let thousands of illegal immigrants into the country due to being overwhelmed and to the lack of support by the current administration.
