A survey by The Economist/YouGov reveals that Americans' worries about the Chinese coronavirus are dwindling.

According to the survey, 58 percent of Americans think the Chinese coronavirus pandemic is reached its worst, and only 14 percent think it will become worse. A quarter, or 26%, indicated they have heard “nothing at all” about a new sub-variant of the virus, which further implies that Americans are becoming less concerned about any news related to the illness. Another 58% claimed they had “a little” heard.

Over half, or 53%, of those surveyed said they are not overly concerned about “experiencing” the infection. Among them, 22% say they are “not at all concerned,” despite the fact that 28% say coronavirus infections in the US are “growing.”

Twenty percent of respondents said they are not fully vaccinated, while a majority, 43 percent, said they are fully vaccinated with at least one booster shot. The survey also revealed that 43 percent of respondents “never” wear a mask outside their home, followed by 28 percent who do so “some of the time.”

Furthermore, it was discovered that 60% of respondents tended to think the virus originated in a lab in China.

1,500 adult citizens of the United States were polled between January 14 and 17, 2023.

It comes as the US attempts to get past constraints imposed during the coronavirus period. Recent pressure from Republican lawmakers led the Biden Pentagon to to revoke the COVID-19 military vaccination requirement. However, in a statement, the Pentagon said, “Secretary Austin continues to encourage all Service members, civilian employees, and contractor personnel to get vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 to ensure Total Force readiness.”

President Biden declared the pandemic “over” in September 2022 after more than a year of going back on his promise by attempting to impose mandates and restrictions relating to vaccinations and masks.

“The pandemic is over. We still have a problem with COVID. We’re still doing a lot of work on it. It’s — but the pandemic is over,” Biden said during an appearance on 60 Minutes.

“If you notice, no one’s wearing masks. Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape. And so I think it’s changing,” the president said. “And I think this is a perfect example of it.”

However, the Biden Justice Department is working to reinstate mask requirements.
