The DA is Refusing to Prosecute Cuomo on Confirmed Sexual Misconduct Charges

New York Attorney General. Letitia James has announced in August that Andrew Cuomo, the disgraced former governor of New York, has sexually harassed several women. This announcement came after a four-month probe into the said investigations. However, it seems the DA has not given any charges to the former governor.

According to James, the ex-governor violated both state and federal law. She said that the former New York governor made a hostile work environment and harassed employees of the state. Despite all these, no charges were made against him.

District Attorney Mimi Rocah said in a statement that their investigation had discovered credible evidence that lets them conclude that the alleged misconduct on Cuomo’s part has occurred. However, Rocah added that, in both instances, the District Attorney’s office had determined that, even though there were credible allegations and witnesses, and even if the conduct was concerning, they couldn’t push with making criminal charges because of the statutory requirements of New York’s criminal laws.

Back in August, the office of AG James released a 168-page report, concluding that Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women. The report mentions that some of these women were his employees. It also said that, apart from violating state and federal laws, Cuomo decided to retaliate against a former staffer who made allegations against the former governor.

Later that month, Cuomo resigned from his position. He was replaced by then-Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), who is also aiming to clinch a full term in the 2022 midterm elections.
